Pruning Program

Bildsten’s three-stage pruning program follows best horticultural practices and is timed intentionally throughout the growing season to maintain a clean, natural appearance across commercial landscapes throughout the year.
Early Spring Pruning
(Before Bud Break)

- Prepare shrubs and plants for seasonal transition

Bildsten’s fall clean-up services focus on removing seasonal debris, protecting turf and landscape beds, and setting properties up for a strong start in the spring.
Fall clean-up services include:
- Leaf removal from turf areas, beds, and hard surfaces
- Clearing of debris from landscape beds and around plantings
- Final mowing and trimming as conditions allow
- Cutbacks and seasonal preparation of landscape areas as appropriate
- Cleanup of walkways, entrances, and high-traffic areas to maintain safety and curb appeal

Commercial Grounds Maintenance
What sets Bildsten Landscape Services apart is how consistently the work is done; every service, every time.
Our mowing crews follow a regular schedule, providing 28-32 mows per season between April and late November, depending on weather and turf conditions. Turf is maintained clean, even, and well-groomed, with clippings properly collected or dispersed and never left on walkways or across lawn areas.
We install premium hardwood mulch, free of pallets, fillers, or compost blends commonly used by other contractors. This mulch improves moisture retention, supports soil health, and maintains a clean, polished appearance for longer periods of time.
Throughout each visit, our crews actively monitor turf and landscape conditions, identifying potential issues early and communicating them to the appropriate team for follow-up.
Spring Clean-Up and Mulching
A thorough start to the season sets the tone for healthy growth and a professional appearance. Bildsten’s spring clean-up and mulching services prepare commercial landscapes for the growing season while establishing clean lines and refreshed beds.
Our spring services include:
- Spade edging of all beds to create crisp, well-defined borders
- Removal of leaves, debris, and overwintered material from all landscape beds
- Removal and off-site disposal of outdated edging materials as needed
- Pre-emergent herbicide application to help prevent early weed growth
- Installation of premium hardwood mulch to protect soil, retain moisture, and enhance overall bed appearance
Mulching is coordinated with spring clean-up and the broader maintenance schedule to ensure landscapes begin the season clean, vibrant, and well-prepared to thrive.
Grounds, Turf & Plant Health Services
Bildsten provides a comprehensive grounds, turf, and plant health program designed to keep commercial and municipal properties healthy, polished, and well-managed throughout the growing season.
Our teams maintain a consistent presence on each property, keeping eyes on turf, beds, trees, and shrubs during every visit to ensure issues are identified early and addressed promptly.
What This Includes
- Regular mowing and grounds care based on seasonal turf conditions
- Bed and landscape area maintenance to preserve clean edges and overall curb appeal
- Five-step turf fertilization and weed control program, coordinated through trusted partners, including: Spring fertilizer with crabgrass prevention, Broadleaf weed control with fertilizer, Late summer fertilizer application, Fall fertilizer with broadleaf weed control and Grub control to protect turf roots
- Tree and shrub care, including spray treatments for trees under 25 feet and ornamental shrubs, with scheduled applications for insect and disease control
All services are scheduled and managed alongside routine maintenance and watering to ensure consistent timing, balanced care, and long-term landscape health.
Irrigation & Watering Management
Irrigation and watering are fully integrated into our landscape services and play a critical role in plant health and overall landscape performance.
- 24/7 availability during watering season
- Approximately 60 waterings over a 16-week period
- Watering every other day, including weekends
- Ongoing checks for plant stress, disease, and irrigation issues
Our team learns each property’s irrigation system in the spring, tests and starts systems before annuals are installed, and identifies potential issues early. In the fall, we manage system shutdown and blowouts before freezing temperatures arrive.
Because we know your system, we can respond quickly and accurately when adjustments are needed.
Annual Color Installation
Enhance your property with vibrant seasonal displays. Our annual color services include:
- Incorporation of organic material into all floral beds
- Fertilization and installation of selected annuals
- Bi-weekly maintenance, including weeding, watering, and fertilizing
- Removal of spent plant material in the fall
